Lyon Oaks Woods Edge
The Woods Edge area of Lyon Oaks County Park was a historically underutilized section of the park with a rental pavilion, small playground and restroom building. The park, which sees a lot of guests at both the athletic fields and the dog park, was not drawing guests in for general park activities such as picnicking and unstructured play. This project was started to increase opportunities for active outdoor recreation for people of all abilities with a destination accessible playground, flexible open space for exercise, accessible pickleball courts and improved trail connectivity to the Huron Valley Trail.
Phases
Design and Engineering
NF Engineers was contracted to develop and design a universally accessible area that included construction of a new accessible playground, the first accessible pickleball courts in Oakland County, paved parking lot with expanded accessible spaces, and accessible routes to connect all new elements and the existing restroom structure.
